Our Volunteers are valuable individuals who offer their support in a variety of ways:

Volunteering Makes A Difference

Are you empathetic, kind, and looking for a way to truly make a difference? We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for you at Star City Hospice. We can also provide training to help you help others as they make their final journey through life. While this work can be challenging, it is also immensely rewarding, appreciated, and necessary. 

Our clients and our team are so appreciative of the time, compassion and effort from our volunteers. Whether you’re reading stories, playing card games, watching tv, chatting, or running errands you are truly making a difference in the lives of others as well as their loved ones. We all need time to take care of ourselves. When you volunteer you not only help our clients, you also help their families who need time to themselves to do the amazing things they do for their loved ones. We appreciate help with companionship as well as administrative tasks (whatever is your specialty, we’re thankful to have your help)!

Patient Visitor: Our volunteers are paired with patients and offer friendship, socialization, and kindness. If you’re social with a warm heart and spirit, this is the opportunity for you!

Office Assistance: Up for a task? If administrative duties are your specialty, we always appreciate help with filing, putting together packets of information for patients and families, photocopying, and scanning/uploading documents.

Become a Volunteer

When you become a volunteer, you become a part of our Star City Hospice family. Volunteers play a critical role in caring for our patients and are part of what make the care we offer our clients unique and personal. It means a lot to our clients to have socialization and fun with others that are there simply because they want to be.  In order to join our team, each individual must complete and pass the following:

I understand that the information provided in this application to Star City Hospice is part of the permanent volunteer file at Star City and is only available to authorized Hospice staff and volunteers. I understand that if I am accepted as a volunteer with Star City Hospice I am agreeing to attend volunteer support and education sessions provided by Star City Hospice and abide by the policies and procedures of Star City Hospice. I authorize investigation of all statements contained in this application. I understand that the misrepresentation or omission of facts called for is cause for dismissal at any time without any previous notice. I hereby give Star City Hospice permission to contact schools, previous employers (unless otherwise indicated), references, and others, and hereby release Star City Hospice from any liability as a result of such contact. I also understand that Star City Hospice requires pre placement drug testing, background check/finger printing, and TB testing and consent to and compliance with such policy is a condition for acceptance as a volunteer.
