Our Hospice Services

Medicare-certified hospice centers are required to offer four levels of hospice care: general inpatient care, respite care, routine home care, and continuous care. Your loved one’s needs will determine which level of care is their best option. Star City Hospice is dedicated to providing high-quality care no matter which services we’re providing.

Routine Home Care

Routine home care is the most common type of care for hospice patients. At this level of care, a hospice care team member will visit the patient’s home up to 7 days a week to provide medical and palliative care, manage the patient’s symptoms, and help prevent crises. Visits can be regularly scheduled or occur as needed. For most people, home is a much more comfortable place to be than the hospital, so we do everything we can to keep your loved one in the comfort of home. We also offer a 24-hour call line with a Nurse Manager and on-call staff to offer assistance day or night.

Continuous Care

Continuous Care

When routine visits are not doing enough to control your loved one’s symptoms, we can deliver continuous care for up to 24 hours per day. Nurses or nursing aids will be in the patient’s home to easily monitor their condition and quickly take action if symptoms continue. Our Dallas staff will also stay in contact with your loved one’s physicians and RN Case Managers to ensure everyone is up to date on the patient’s current condition and medical needs. Through continuous care, we offer attentive care for the patient and emotional support for your family. We help relieve the burden of caregiving so you can spend more quality time with your loved one.

What’s Included in Hospice Care

Hospice is a palliative care service that focuses on keeping patients as comfortable as possible at the end of their life. Our hospice services address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients, including managing patients’ symptoms to reduce pain and suffering. Our team handles a variety of tasks to help patients stay comfortable wherever they are living.

Medications

Patients in hospice receive the medications they need to address their terminal diagnosis or comfort. Hospice covers the cost of the medication, and our staff can ensure patients take the right medicine at the right time.

Medical Equipment and Supplies

Hospice patients can receive medical equipment and supplies to support their comfort and care. This may include a hospital bed, wheelchair, oxygen concentrator, incontinence supplies, and other helpful medical items.

Visits From the Care Team

Hospice includes visits from the patient’s interdisciplinary care team. Star City Hospice team members include healthcare providers like nurses and physicians as well as home health aides, spiritual counselors, bereavement counselors, social workers, and volunteers.

Hospice Benefits for Patients and Families

Providing care for a loved one can feel overwhelming, especially when combined with the emotional aspect of helping your loved one during the end of their life. Hospice can offer a great deal of support for your loved one, you, and your family. The team at Star City Hospice Dallas is here to help make the end-of-life journey more comfortable for the patient and less stressful for everyone involved.

Patients Stay Where They’re Comfortable

Many patients are much more comfortable in their own Texas homes than at a hospital or other medical facility. With at home hospice care from Star City Hospice, your loved one will receive palliative care from the comfort of their own home. This allows them to remain in a familiar and peaceful environment while still getting the physical, emotional, and spiritual care they deserve. Wherever your loved one calls home – be it a house, apartment, nursing home, or assisted living facility – our caring team members will be there to assist.
